ROUND TABLE

Thursday 12 June, 6pm

New horizons and challenges of lesbian cinema in Spain

Round table: New Horizons and Challenges of Lesbian Cinema in Spain

The round table New horizons and challenges of lesbian cinema in Spain, will evoke the emergence of a new generation of female directors capable of realistically transmitting the real experiences of the youngest lesbian collective (from Alba Cros to Zaida Carmona, Irona, Ruth Caudeli, Sara Fantova, Irene Moray, Isa Luengo, Sofía Esteve or Nora Haddad), to remember how complicated it is for women to make films and even more so with a lesbian theme (remembering, for example, the years it took Arantxa Echevarría to shoot Carmen and Lola, or the difficulties of others to make a place for themselves in cinema, such as Marta Balletbó-Coll), despite the increasingly common presence of lesbian actresses outside the closet in our film scene (Susi Sánchez, Inma Cuesta, Anabel Alonso, Elena Anaya, Alba Flores or Anna Castillo, for example). New projects, such as the production companies Amor y Lujo, Vayolet Films, or Loba Loba, also seem to be changing things, towards a better representation of lesbian women in Spanish cinema. We will discuss this with the producer Carlotta Schiavon, the film critic Violeta Kovacsics Grisolía, the film director Sara Fantova, moderated by Mar Canet, director of La Casa del Cine.

LGBTI CENTER Thursday 12 June 6pm Free entrance The table will have interpretation in Catalan sign language Retransmissió en directe des del Canal YouTube del centre LGBTI de Barcelona.

Activity organized in collaboration with:
