1908. 1908. In a bourgeois household, Céleste, a young maid, is in the service of Victoire and André Boisvaillant. Each night, André slips into Céleste’s room, until she can no longer hide her round belly. When Victoire realizes what has happened, she decides to fake a pregnancy and keep Céleste’s baby as her own. As tensions rise within the house, an unexpected bond begins to form between these two women who have nothing in common. But this bond threatens the fragile order that André is desperate to maintain.
