One more year FIRE!! is at Girona Cinema with the cycle East of Eden, prepared in collaboration with Casa Asia. With three recent films from Asia or Oceania, we aim at showing the daily life and the issues of LGBT communities far from our realities. We first visit Pakistan, where we will discover, in Unveiled, the dangers that Maria has to face in order to become professional squash player. Next, we travel to India to admire the beautiful White Nights, an adaptation in lesbian key of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s short story of the same name. In Fathers, we will share the life of Phoon and Yuke and their adopted son in a Thailand still unwilling to accept same-sex couples. Finally, we end our journey in Korea, with the hilarious comedy Dad is Pretty, a film about the trans experience in a country that is becoming increasingly open to affective and sexual diversity.
