Socks on Fire, presented by the directors of the Americana Film Festival. Sunday 19, 6pm
McGuire documents in Socks on Fire the confrontation between the two idols of his childhood: his aunt, now homophobic, and his uncle, proudly gay, involved in a bitter fight over his mother’s inheritance. In this epic family feud, McGuire reflects on his own queer adolescence in the rural South of the U.S. With home videos, intimate interviews, and masterful re-enactments – including a brilliant cast of drag queens – McGuire draws a tribute to his beloved grandmother and the fascinating image of a divided house. The film will be presented by the directors of the Americana Film Festival, José María Machado and Javier Lezcano!
