We already have the winning projects of the 5th edition of FIRE!! LAB!

The 5th edition of the FIRE!! LAB, laboratory for the creation of LGBTI-themed films It has been, again, a success! After receiving more than 100 projects and selecting 10 (5 feature films and 5 series), the participants received master classes and individual mentoring at the LGBTI Centre in Barcelona for three days from different expert advisors and tutors, to finish presenting their scripts to different production companies. The mentoring sessions focused on the weaknesses and opportunities of each selected work in terms of the artistic aspect and the elements of production. Among the experts who have advised with their visions and experiences are Bob Pop, Júlia de Paz, Javier Ferreiro, Paola Boltrán, David Moragas, Ana Joven, Joan Montesinos, Pilar Toro, Joan Ruiz and Mani Martínez, among others. As a closing of the fifth edition of FIRE!! LAB, the teams have made a pitch presentation of the project in front of representatives of institutions and companies in the Zumzeig Cinema, where the laboratory’s awards were presented.

 

Winners of the 5th edition of FIRE!! LAB

 

> The project Las manos quietas, by Barcelona’s Víctor Diago, has been selected to receive the FIRELAB Feature Film Award, which consists of 2,000 euros to support and finance this initial phase of the film.

 

> In the case of the FIRELAB Series Award, it went to the project El año de la envidia, by Kevin Rodrigo Pérez from Pamplona and Lucía Pérez Oroz from Zaragoza, which will receive a prize of 2,000 euros to continue writing the series to strengthen its structure and script.

 

> For her part, the Madrid-based production company Ángeles L. Guerrero, from Gelatina Films, with her project El participio del verbo oír, received the SSIFF INDUSTRY Award, created in conjunction with the network of LGTBIQ+ laboratories and the San Sebastian Festival, so that the winning project can participate in the industry area of the 74th edition of the festival. In addition, the production company will have accreditation, accommodation and travel to attend the market.

 

> In addition, all the projects that have been selected in this edition will integrate the section FIRE!! Talent Lab, along with the rest of the projects that have been mentored in past editions.

 

The FIRE!! LAB is an audiovisual laboratory organized by Casal Lambda within the framework of the Mostra FIRE!! and has the support of the Catalan Institute of Cultural Companies (ICEC), the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Barcelona City Council and the collaboration of the LGBTI Center of Barcelona and the French Institute.
